Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

PCOS affects reproductive-age women and is characterized by irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, and excess androgen production. Insulin resistance is a major contributor, stimulating the ovaries to produce more androgens and disrupting normal hormone balance. Several studies show that low-carbohydrate diets or metformin therapy can improve symptoms by lowering insulin levels.1
